Real Steel (Dir.: Shawn Levy; Cast: Hugh Jackman et al.)
Real Steel is a heartwarming story of estranged father and son bonding and an underdog story packaged in a new bottle – in a world of robots boxing it out in arenas for professional glory and money in an imaginary future world.
Hugh Jackman stars in the role of a former boxer turned who now participates in robot boxing events with his robots to earn his bread. The plot progression is predictable and the performances are okay. However, a few magic moments and the novelty of the ?arena? adds to the uniqueness of this film. While not a must-watch, Real Steel is a pleasant watch nonetheless, which gets one rooting for the underdog (yet again) at some stage – sooner or later!
