My freedom fighter’s your terrorist
And your refugee, my burdensome beast.
It’s autumn in my skies, so could you just let me be –
Not bother ’bout the hungry, the thirsty,
The homeless on the roads, babes dying on the sea?
Fires in villages where I’ve never been,
Are those what you’d rather have me count?
Did I not slog all the year through,
To hunt down deals now, the best discount?
Let me laugh now, let me live
Through even and through odd;
Till I too become,
The child of a lesser god.
