Who wrote it all?

Who wrote it all?
———————-
Who was it that put you in my story?
And who wrote in all of you?
Was it the one and the same,
Or were there many, or just a few?

Who drew these beautiful pictures in my book –
The green of the forests, the skies in blue
And what was he thinking when he added the beasts?
And did he add me in their stories too?

Who wrote in my winces and my cries,
Did he know too that I would smile and rise?
Who put in all this sweet music for me?
And threw in a few storms for free?
Did you write it all in a fit, a whim?
Do you regret now, like to change any of it?
Or do you just love it every bit?

Did you know it would turn out this way,
The slopes, the hills, the twists and turns?
I’m dying to know what you had in mind –
Did you plan all my balms and burns?

And how does this go on from here,
How does this end?
Did you plan that too to the last detail,
Or must I for myself fend?
Are you done writing all the acts in my play?
Or do I now get a say?

  • The Wait (poem)
Don’t take the pain away, I pray Lest I forget how bad it had hurt, Just give me a song if you can So it doesn’t sting so hard.   Don’t take those memories away Lest I forget to mind the gap, Just give me a fairytale where the hero Can leap coolly across the... […]
